Widely celebrated as one of the standout players of his generation, Keegan earned the nickname "Mighty Mouse" during his illustrious playing career. He secured the English top-flight title four times with Liverpool before moving to the German club Hamburg in 1977. His playing journey later included stints with Southampton and Newcastle.
Transitioning into management, Keegan notably took charge of Fulham and served as the England manager between 1999 and 2000. His managerial tenure also included a four-year period at Manchester City and a brief return to Newcastle in 2008. Beyond his achievements on the pitch, Keegan was a double Ballon d'Or winner.
"Kevin, a double Ballon d'Or winner, was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather," the family statement added, while also expressing gratitude to his medical team and requesting privacy during this difficult time.
Keegan, regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation, was diagnosed with stage four cancer and underwent treatment in January.
"It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75," a statement from Keegan's family said.
