Ramy Abbas, the legal representative for Mohamed Salah, has moved to dispel circulating reports suggesting that the former Liverpool star is on the verge of a move to Besiktas. Speculation regarding the Egyptian forward’s future intensified after journalist Santi Aouna claimed that the Turkish outfit had secured a verbal agreement to sign the 34-year-old.

The reports alleged that the proposed deal would involve a one-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months, carrying a salary package of approximately €12 million (£10m), including bonuses. However, Abbas directly challenged the accuracy of these claims. Taking to social media platform X, he wrote: “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?”

While Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncouglu has corroborated the report of interest, he maintained that negotiations between Salah and Besiktas remain ongoing, specifically regarding the duration of the contract and image rights. Besiktas is reportedly seeking to sign established players to narrow the competitive gap with current Turkish league champions, Galatasaray.

Salah’s future has been the subject of significant attention since he announced his intention to depart Liverpool in March. The decision followed a falling out with former Reds head coach Arne Slot, despite the player having one year remaining on his contract at the time. The veteran forward experienced a challenging campaign last season, recording 12 goals and 10 assists across 41 appearances in all competitions. Beyond the links to Turkey, Salah has also been associated with a potential move to Major League Soccer, with Sporting Kansas City reportedly considering an approach for the forward.
