Roma has officially rejected an opening bid from Atletico Madrid for their midfielder, who has seen his market value climb significantly following standout performances for France at the 2026 World Cup. The Spanish club submitted an offer worth €40m this summer, which the Italian side dismissed outright.

The club has now set a firm asking price of €60m for the player. This valuation is a sharp increase from the €50m price tag previously discussed when Inter expressed interest in the midfielder in recent months. His profile continues to rise as he prepares to represent France in the World Cup semi-final against Spain tomorrow evening.

Competition for the player's signature is heating up, with Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly ready to initiate a Premier League bidding war. Roma remains firm on their stance, as they are not prepared to sell for the current offer. The club originally acquired the midfielder from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2024 for a fee of €18m, plus an additional €2m in potential add-ons.

In light of these developments, Roma owner Ryan Friedkin is scheduled to meet at the Trigoria training camp today. He is set to hold discussions with coach Gian Piero Gasperini and the new director of sport, Tony D’Amico, to clarify the team's ongoing transfer strategy.
