Trump is scheduled to arrive in New York on Monday afternoon, starting with political engagements at Trump Tower before delivering his address to the General Assembly on Tuesday morning. US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz confirmed the itinerary, noting that the president intends to emphasize his administration's direct approach to global issues. "The president will highlight how he has and his administration have confronted complex problems head-on around the world," Waltz stated, adding that Trump will also "touch on the importance of ensuring that Iran never has a nuclear weapon."
Addressing the ongoing confrontation with Iran—a dispute now extending beyond six months—will be a focal point of Trump's diplomatic efforts. This issue is expected to lead discussions during a scheduled summit with leaders from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Following the summit, Trump will host a reception for the council, where he is slated to hold his first in-person meeting with Delcy Rodriguez, the US-backed Venezuelan interim president.
Tuesday's schedule features several critical bilateral talks. Trump will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who confirmed via social media that the two leaders had agreed to hold discussions during the assembly. Additionally, Trump is set to hold his first face-to-face meeting with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, alongside separate talks with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. A meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi is also anticipated to take place during the summit.
