Russia has issued a stark warning to foreign diplomats and citizens in Kyiv, urging them to leave the Ukrainian capital immediately and avoid traveling to the country as Moscow prepares to intensify its military strikes.
According to an official statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow intends to execute sustained strikes targeting military and administrative infrastructure across Kyiv and other major Ukrainian cities. The ministry framed these operations as direct responses to what it described as "terrorist actions" by Ukrainian forces targeting Russian civilians and domestic infrastructure.
"The Russian Foreign Ministry once again warns foreign citizens, including diplomatic mission personnel, against staying in or travelling to Ukraine," the ministry stated. "Responsibility for any potential adverse consequences rests entirely with those who disregard this warning."
The ministry noted that this guidance was originally outlined in a May 25 statement and conveyed through formal diplomatic notes, before being reiterated on May 27 during a briefing for the diplomatic corps by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
Moscow also pointed out that several Western nations—including the United States, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, Norway, and Switzerland—have repeatedly issued travel advisories advising their citizens against visiting Ukraine, most recently in August.
Despite these warnings, many embassies remain operational in Kyiv, and foreign officials continue to visit. The Russian ministry warned that those who ignore the guidance are "knowingly exposing themselves to mortal danger."
The warning concludes with Russia's Armed Forces pledging to "continue to deliver massive retaliatory strikes" as the conflict enters its fifth year, having surpassed four and a half years of active hostilities.
