New details have emerged regarding the disappearance of Elizabeth Waddell, the 44-year-old North Carolina mother who went missing while on a three-week vacation in Grenada. Family spokesperson and friend Amanda Romano-Harmon confirmed that the Royal Grenada Police Force has obtained surveillance video documenting Waddell's last known movements on July 22. The footage shows the missing woman at the pier in the capital city of St. George's, where she was last seen on Grand Anse Beach.
According to Romano-Harmon, the video captures the physical therapist entering the water. "It shows her floating, swimming around, but then she, you know, she floats out of the camera view and so that's the last footage of Liz," the spokesperson stated. Waddell had been traveling with a close friend named Heather at the time of her disappearance. The family reported that Waddell left their shared Airbnb at approximately noon, and when she failed to return, her friend began searching for her. Heather eventually located Waddell's towel, but no other personal belongings were found.
Romano-Harmon noted that the missing woman had left the accommodation without her mobile phone, identification, shoes, or any other items, describing her as a person who would "give you the shirt off her back." Waddell’s husband, Cailen Waddell, along with other relatives, has since traveled to Grenada to assist in the search efforts. Cailen Waddell previously described his wife as a "loving free-spirit person" who was known for her ability to easily make friends. Local police are currently appealing to residents and boaters in the area to come forward with any information regarding her whereabouts. The U.S. State Department has confirmed it is aware of the reports regarding the missing American citizen.
