Illegal Israeli settlers have erected a series of tents to establish a new, unauthorised outpost north-west of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, according to reports from Palestine’s official news agency, Wafa. The settlers set up the site in the Wadi Zeytun area, located south of the village of Umm Safa, in an effort to seize Palestinian land. If this outpost is fully established, it will mark the sixth such site surrounding Umm Safa. Additionally, another outpost was recently established in the village of Burqa, also near Ramallah.
Data from the Palestinian Colonisation and Wall Resistance Commission indicates that illegal settlers have established approximately 200 outposts across the occupied West Bank during the 1,000 days since the conflict in Gaza began in October 2023. Currently, an estimated 750,000 illegal Israeli settlers reside in 156 settlements and 360 illegal outposts throughout the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, areas considered illegal under international law by the United Nations.
The expansion of these outposts coincides with intensified military activity across the region. In Qusra, south of Nablus, an eight-day siege has been imposed on three Palestinian families. Mayor Abdul Azim Wadi reported that the Israeli army has converted a residential home on Ras al-Ain mountain into a military barracks, subjecting residents to constant harassment and danger alongside settler attacks. In the Ramallah district, Israeli troops raided Al-Mughayyir, firing toxic tear gas at homes, which resulted in multiple cases of suffocation, and established several military checkpoints. In Beit Liqya, soldiers delivered demolition and stop-work notices to various homeowners.
Movement restrictions remain severe, with hundreds of Palestinians trapped in long vehicle queues north of Jerusalem due to tightened inspections at the Jaba military checkpoint. Meanwhile, in southern Hebron, Israeli forces and settlers raided Wadi Ajheish, where they detained five Palestinians—including four members of a single family—and confiscated their work tools and vehicle. In Masafer Yatta, authorities issued demolition orders for residential caves in Khallet al-Dabaa. Elsewhere, settlers drove livestock into residential areas in Wadi al-Rakhim and forced farmers off their land in Huwara.
Violence against Palestinians has also escalated in other areas. Dr. Majid Aliyan Dweikat, a physician from the village of Sur Bahir in Jerusalem, was attacked by roughly 10 illegal settlers in the Janata area east of Bethlehem. According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the attackers beat him with stones and sticks, breaking his hand and destroying his vehicle windows. Similar incidents occurred on the road connecting Ramallah and Nablus, where settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles. West of Nablus, settlers targeted a house in Beit Imrin and detained several people; the Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that Israeli forces obstructed ambulances from reaching injured individuals in the area. Since early 2026, the UN has documented over 1,430 settler attacks on 260 Palestinian communities, with violence and state-led demolitions forcibly displacing approximately 3,800 Palestinians, nearly half of whom are children.
