Toronto police are conducting an active search for three armed men who broke into a mansion in the city's Bridle Path neighborhood early Thursday morning, resulting in a violent attack on the family residing there. The incident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. when the masked suspects forced their way through a back entrance of the five-bedroom home.

The intruders confronted 75-year-old David Morton, the CEO of the MAC Group, along with his 64-year-old wife, Doriana Morton, and their two adult daughters, Maggie and Cristina. According to Toronto Police Service Inspector Kristy Smith, the attackers demanded valuables from the home, though it remains uncertain whether any items were stolen during the encounter.

As the family attempted to fend off the intruders, the situation escalated into violence. Police confirmed that David Morton and his two daughters, ages 28 and 26, were shot during the confrontation. In a statement released on Friday, David Morton further revealed that all four family members were also struck by the suspects using a hammer. He noted that he and his two daughters remained hospitalized on Friday due to their gunshot wounds, though he did not disclose specific details regarding their current medical conditions.

Reflecting on the traumatic event, David Morton expressed the profound impact of the intrusion, stating, "What should have been the safety and security of our own home became a terrifying and life-threatening experience." He added that it is difficult to articulate the trauma of such an ordeal in the one place where a family should feel most secure.

The three male suspects, who are all believed to be in their 20s and were dressed in dark clothing, managed to flee the scene in an SUV. The incident has drawn attention to rising crime rates in the area, with Toronto police reporting 119 home invasions so far in 2026, representing a 32.2% increase compared to the same period last year. This specific neighborhood is also known for being the location of a mansion belonging to rapper Drake, which was targeted in multiple break-in attempts in May 2024, during which one of his security guards was wounded in a shooting.
