The Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup recently arrived in the Washington area, hosting a competitive field of local business leaders and professionals at the Potomac Shores Golf Club. This event marked the 77th stop in the organization's expansive 139-tournament series for the current year.
Sungwon Kim emerged as the Washington champion, finishing with a net score of 62. This victory guarantees Kim a place in the Grand Finals, which are scheduled to take place later this year in Türkiye. Following closely behind, Elliott Pyon finished in second place, while Ricardo Agudelo secured third place.
Additional honors were awarded during the competition. Ricardo Agudelo claimed the men’s title in the Closest to the Pin contest, and Bergen Houston won the women’s title. Anh Tran achieved the Gross award with a final score of 70.
Ismail Ozturk, the Turkish Airlines General Manager in Washington, expressed his gratitude to the participants for making the tournament a success. He congratulated Kim on his win and offered his best wishes for the upcoming finals in Türkiye. The Grand Finals are set to be held at the Gloria Golf Club, with finalists staying at the Gloria Serenity Resort along the Mediterranean coast.
Since its launch in 2013, the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup has grown significantly, now connecting more than 10,000 players across over 130 tournaments in 84 countries. The series is part of a decade-long promotional effort by Turkish Airlines to establish the region of Antalya as a premier destination for international golf, alongside other events like the Turkish Airlines Open.
