Emergency dispatch audio from Miami-Dade County has provided details regarding the response to a mental health crisis involving 48-year-old celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. Authorities were dispatched to his home in the Westchester neighborhood, located approximately 10 miles west of downtown Miami, on the night of Aug. 4.
The initial 911 calls were placed shortly before 7 p.m. after Hilton was reportedly seen appearing to harm himself during a TikTok livestream. Dispatchers characterized the incident as a “possible suicide” and noted that the individual might be armed and required medical attention for his injuries. Responders were initially sent with “basic life support,” a tier of emergency care typically considered lower than the “advanced life support” protocols used for critical emergencies like heart attacks.
According to the recorded dispatch audio, the situation unfolded over nearly four hours. Sheriff’s deputies directed emergency personnel to wait in the vicinity before eventually entering the residence shortly before 11 p.m. to transport Hilton to a hospital. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office stated that in situations involving individuals in a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating “time, distance, and opportunities for communication.”
On Aug. 5, Hilton’s family confirmed that he is currently receiving medical care. In a statement released that day, the family expressed gratitude for the public support, stating, “Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers. We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family's focus right now is on his well-being.”

Around 10:40 p.m. emergency staff were again sent to the home, and around 11 p.m. reported working alongside police to enter and tend to Hilton.
