President Donald Trump reportedly confronted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over critical munitions shortages during a Cabinet meeting held at Camp David last week. According to a report from the Washington Post, the President demanded an explanation after discovering that significant shortfalls in key weaponry—specifically long-range guided missiles and Patriot air-defence interceptors—had not been resolved, despite his belief that the matter was already being addressed.

Sources familiar with the exchange indicated that concerns regarding these depleted stockpiles have influenced the President's recent decision to refrain from authorizing additional large-scale strikes against Iran. The report notes that production of Patriot missiles can require up to two years, even with new manufacturing agreements in place.

In response to the reported confrontation, Defense Secretary Hegseth reportedly defended his actions, attributing the shortages and a failure to adequately brief the President on the state of military inventories to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg.

Both the White House and the Pentagon have formally rejected the claims. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the account as "100 percent fake news," asserting that the President maintains the "utmost confidence" in Secretary Hegseth. Similarly, Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell denied the allegations, stating that Hegseth "did not mislead anyone about our munitions posture" and characterizing the report as "fictional."
