During his first appearance of the season on "The Pat McAfee Show," veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers revisited one of the most controversial periods of his career, doubling down on his anti-vaccine stance and launching a sharp critique against Dr. Anthony Fauci. Speaking live from the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp on Monday, the four-time NFL MVP declared that time has vindicated his controversial positions.
"I feel great about it," Rodgers said during the broadcast. "I told you I'd be on the right side of history when I had that mustache that we were in New York."
Rodgers went on to criticize the clinical and administrative processes behind the nationwide vaccination campaign. He alleged that the vaccines did not undergo proper clinical trials to verify their safety, thereby exposing millions of people to significant risks.
"It's had zero trials done for it," Rodgers claimed. "You have no idea what the consequences are. There's no informed consent; you can't even look at the insert to know what you're doing. They're not even pulling the plunger back to make sure that they got in the right spot in the arm." He further lamented the "insanity" of the situation, adding, "I stood, I sat here amongst a lot of actually brave Americans who avoided the trillion-dollar propaganda campaign that was hijacked on the American public. And look at us now."
The quarterback directed much of his criticism toward Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Rodgers questioned Fauci's handling of the pandemic, accusing public health officials of withholding alternative options and misrepresenting facts.
"They suppressed early treatments," Rodgers said. "They lied about where it came from. Tony Fauci is writing in his journal about, 'I don't wanna create any vaccine hesitancy if I tell them what the actual stats are.'"
Rodgers also praised alternative figures in the medical community, pointing to "McCullers and Malones and all the great doctors out there" who he said treated patients on the front end using repurposed drugs with safe profiles. He contrasted their work with Fauci's approach, accusing Fauci of "pushing his medicine, just like he did back in the 80s."
Despite the heavy public scrutiny and backlash Rodgers faced at the height of the pandemic, the veteran quarterback remains steadfast, asserting that he and others who resisted the vaccine mandate have ultimately been proven correct.
