Roma midfielder Muhammed Bah is facing a lengthy recovery period of approximately nine months following surgery on his right knee. The 19-year-old talent was injured during a pre-season friendly match against Cardiff City in Wales this past Saturday, a game that ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Italian club.
The incident occurred within the opening 30 minutes of the match, as the Gambian teenager collapsed on the pitch. Visibly distraught, Bah was stretchered off the field in tears, clearly recognizing the severity of the situation. Medical assessments have since confirmed the diagnosis, which mirrors a previous injury he sustained in January 2024. That earlier incident involved the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and kept him out of professional action for nearly a full year.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. Georg Ahlbaumer. This latest setback represents a difficult start to the young player's professional career, occurring only a few months after he committed his future to Roma by signing a contract extension that runs until June 2028.
Now the 19-year-old has had exactly the same diagnosis, but with the right knee.
