This performance ranks as the second-largest domestic opening weekend in history, trailing the 2019 record holder, "Avengers: Endgame," by only $2 million. With the figures so close, there is a possibility that "Spider-Man" could claim the top spot once final numbers are confirmed on Monday. The previous record for a "Spider-Man" film was held by 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which opened with $260 million. That film's success was heavily driven by the return of former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, making the performance of "Brand New Day" particularly notable for succeeding as a more standard sequel without those specific cameos.
