The poll, which surveyed 1,200 likely voters between August 25 and September 1, reveals a highly competitive landscape for the Democratic nomination, while a clear frontrunner has emerged within the Republican Party.
Vice President JD Vance currently holds a significant lead in the Republican primary field with 44% support. His closest competitor, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, trails with 21%, followed by Donald Trump Jr. at 8%. The survey, which has a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points, highlights the strength both Vance and former Vice President Kamala Harris currently hold among their respective primary bases.
Despite the early polling, several potential candidates have begun addressing the possibility of a White House bid. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, who previously finished second to Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican primary, recently signaled his interest in another run. During an appearance on a podcast hosted by Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick in August, Cruz stated, "It’s no secret that I want to be president."
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has worked to dampen speculation about his own potential candidacy. While he did not definitively rule out a future campaign, he emphasized his current focus during an official visit to Colombia. "I don't know what the future holds, but I have no plans at this time," Rubio said. "I'm not a candidate for anything right now. And I’m 100% focused on my job, and I have to be because I have two jobs.”
On the Democratic side, the field remains fluid. California Governor Gavin Newsom recently clarified his intentions regarding a potential 2028 run. During a fishing trip in Montana with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Newsom was asked about his presidential ambitions if Kamala Harris were to enter the race. "I don't know if she runs, but we'll see," Newsom told Tapper. "I wouldn't run if she ran."
