The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $716 million for the drawing scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The prize offers a cash value of $307.2 million, following the most recent drawing on Monday where no ticket matched all six numbers to claim the top prize.
This jackpot has been steadily increasing since Aug. 12, when a player in Illinois secured an estimated $1.040 billion prize, marking one of the largest payouts in the history of the game. Although Monday's drawing did not produce a jackpot winner, two tickets sold in Florida and Georgia each won $1 million.
Drawings for the Powerball are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Tickets are available for $2 per play. To participate, players select five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number between 1 and 26. For an additional $1, players can add the Power Play feature, which allows for the multiplication of non-jackpot prizes. Alternatively, the Quick Pick option is available for those who prefer the computer to randomly select their numbers.
To win the jackpot, a ticket must successfully match all five white balls and the red Powerball. Participation is open to anyone who meets the legal age requirement in the jurisdiction where the ticket is purchased, which is generally 18 or older. U.S. citizenship or residency is not required to purchase a ticket or claim a prize, though winners living outside the United States may be subject to taxes.
The winning numbers for Wednesday's drawing will be posted following the 10:59 p.m. ET event. The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, at approximately 10:59 p.m. ET, and can be viewed live on the Powerball website or through clips on their official YouTube channel.
