Patients managing high blood pressure are being advised to check their medicine cabinets following a nationwide recall of more than 3,700 bottles of blood pressure medication. The recall, initiated by Macleods Pharmaceuticals on Oct. 7, was prompted by what the company identified as "failed dissolution specifications." This technical failure means the medication does not release its active ingredients at the appropriate rate within the body, which could result in the drug failing to lower blood pressure as expected.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially classified the recall as Class II on Oct. 26. This designation indicates that while the use of the affected product may lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, it is considered unlikely to cause serious health issues. The recall specifically impacts 3,528 bottles containing 30 tablets each, as well as 216 bottles containing 90 tablets each.

While the FDA did not issue a formal news release for this specific recall, the agency confirmed through its enforcement report that notification letters have been sent to businesses and individuals who may possess the affected medication. Under standard Class II recall guidelines, consumers are generally permitted to continue using the medicine unless the manufacturer or the FDA provides specific instructions to the contrary. Patients are strongly encouraged to consult with their health care provider before making any adjustments to their prescribed medication routine.

Here's what to know about the exact medication being recalled and what you should do if you have it.
