On the morning of October 15, 2025, a livestreamer identified as Sisi was leaving her apartment in Yongzhou, China, with her young daughter when she encountered an unexpected package on her shoe rack. Upon picking it up, the package exploded, causing burns to Sisi’s face, neck, and arms. While her daughter escaped serious injury, her backpack and hair were singed by the blast. Police apprehended 27-year-old Liu Mouqiang later that same day. According to an indictment cited by Chinese media, this was the fourth attack prosecutors allege Liu carried out against the creator.

The harassment began after Liu, whom Sisi first encountered through her livestreams, became obsessed with her. Liu had reportedly spent slightly more than 1,000 yuan—approximately $150—on virtual gifts. He later expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that his status as a "Level 28" donor meant he should be treated better than a "tourist," though Sisi clarified that the level was based on his cumulative spending across multiple creators. When he eventually tracked her down offline, he offered her 160,000 yuan to marry him. Sisi repeatedly rejected his advances, returned the money he had gifted her, and attempted to distance herself, even taking him to court over his persistent harassment.

Following her rejection, Liu’s behavior grew increasingly hostile. He posted comments on social media stating, "Female livestreamers all belong to the top donor," and began creating new accounts to spread insults and manipulated content about her. The legal system, which Sisi turned to for protection, inadvertently facilitated his access to her. On June 4, 2025, the Qiyang People’s Court registered a civil lawsuit regarding the harassment. A court-mediated agreement required Liu to apologize, pay 3,000 yuan in compensation, and delete defamatory material. However, the mediation documents included Sisi’s home address, which Liu subsequently used to locate her residence.

Prosecutors detail an escalating campaign of retaliation. In May 2025, Liu allegedly planted an explosive device at her parents' shop, detonating it remotely after spotting her there via a livestream. In August, he placed a metal spike under her car tire. By October, he had sprayed a corrosive liquid into her home, followed 11 days later by the explosive package. Sisi noted that Liu also used backgrounds in her broadcasts to track her movements and business locations. In March 2026, prosecutors charged Liu with endangering public safety by dangerous means. During his trial in June, Liu attempted to characterize the events as a personal relationship dispute, a narrative Sisi has firmly rejected. The court is expected to announce its verdict at a later date.
