Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has ignited fresh transfer speculation after liking an Instagram post from Inter confirming the signing of John Stones. The Italian club announced the arrival of the English defender on a free transfer on Thursday, a post that has since garnered over 350,000 likes, including one from Stones' countryman, Jones.
Jones has long been identified as a target for the Serie A giants, and expectations remain that Inter will pursue further discussions regarding a potential transfer in the coming weeks. According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday, the midfielder is currently the preferred central midfield target for Cristian Chivu. Despite this interest, the reigning Italian champions are reportedly hesitant to meet Liverpool’s €40 million valuation, largely due to the fact that Jones has less than one year remaining on his current contract at Anfield.
A product of the Liverpool academy system, Jones has established himself as a significant figure for the Reds, having made 228 competitive appearances while contributing 22 goals and 25 assists. For Inter, the arrival of Stones follows the earlier summer acquisitions of Ivan Provedel and Aleksandar Stanković, the latter of whom is an academy graduate who returned to the San Siro from Club Brugge.
