As the NFL training camp period gains momentum, veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs remains a free agent, currently navigating his search for a new team as he prepares for his 12th professional season. Amid this search, Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins has publicly initiated an effort to bring the former All-Pro receiver back to Buffalo.
The two players, who previously spent four seasons together as teammates, engaged in an exchange on Instagram that caught the attention of fans. Dawkins, who has expressed interest in a reunion with the wideout since June, posted a message directed at the receiver, to which Diggs replied. Dawkins followed up by stating, "It's time."
Dawkins has remained a fixture with the Buffalo Bills throughout his entire career. A five-time Pro Bowler, he recently signed a three-year, $60.5 million contract extension ahead of the 2024 season. His performance in 2025 included appearances in 15 regular-season games and two postseason contests, ultimately securing his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl selection.
Stefon Diggs’ tenure with the Bills was highly productive, as he served as quarterback Josh Allen’s primary target and helped lead the team through several deep postseason runs. Following the 2023 season, the Bills traded Diggs and draft consideration to the Houston Texans. Diggs began the 2024 season with the Texans, recording 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns across eight games. However, his campaign was cut short in Week 8 when he suffered an ACL injury against the Indianapolis Colts, and he was not re-signed by the team.
In the lead-up to the 2025 season, Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract with the New England Patriots. During that season, he tallied 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in 17 regular-season games as the Patriots advanced to Super Bowl LX, where they were defeated by the Seattle Seahawks. Diggs was subsequently released by New England in March. As he enters his 12th year in the league, several teams are reportedly monitoring his availability, with the Buffalo Bills, Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, and Indianapolis Colts identified as potential suitors.
