Hunter Biden, the son of former US President Joe Biden, has publicly labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "evil incarnate." During an interview with US broadcaster Tucker Carlson, the younger Biden argued that criticizing the government of Israel should not be conflated with anti-Semitism. He stated, "If it's anti-Semitic to point out that Netanyahu is evil incarnate, then I don't know what to say to people anymore."
The comments have drawn attention due to the perceived irony, as many online observers highlighted the former US president’s support for Netanyahu’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza. During his presidency, Joe Biden held three meetings with the Israeli prime minister, two of which occurred after the start of the war in the blockaded enclave. Notably, on July 25, 2024, Netanyahu visited Washington, DC, for a meeting in the Oval Office and an address to the US Congress, an appearance that sparked significant protests outside the US Capitol and boycotts by several lawmakers.
The wide-ranging interview with Carlson also touched upon Hunter Biden’s past struggles with addiction and the controversy surrounding his laptop. Carlson alleged that individuals close to the Israeli government approached him with claims that the laptop contained material depicting the abuse of minors. "The claim that there was material involving the abuse of minors on the computer came from the Israelis," Carlson asserted. "I'm just telling you that they came to me with it, and that's how I know it."
Carlson further suggested that while there was intense pressure in Washington to avoid criticizing Israel, he felt that Israeli officials were responsible for pushing these allegations, which were often attributed to Russia in earlier media reports. The younger Biden’s laptop became a focal point of intense scrutiny in 2020, though the allegations regarding illicit material on the device have remained unproven.
