Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, in Istanbul to conduct discussions regarding bilateral ties and various matters of regional and international importance. While the Turkish foreign ministry provided photographic documentation of the meeting, it did not release further details regarding the specific content of the talks, which were held at the ministry’s Istanbul office.
According to a statement from Pakistan's foreign ministry, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing strengthening and expansion of bilateral relations across the political, economic, security, and cultural domains. The ministers also welcomed the progress achieved under the Pakistan–Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) and reached an agreement to convene the next session of the council at an early date.
In addition to reviewing bilateral cooperation, the ministers exchanged perspectives on regional and international issues. The readout confirmed that both officials reaffirmed their commitment to continue working closely to promote regional peace and stability.
This meeting serves as a precursor to further diplomatic activity in the region. Officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye are scheduled to hold their first political and defence committee meeting in Istanbul on Monday, operating under the framework of the Mecca defence pact that was signed earlier this month.
