Yemeni government forces have killed three Houthi members and wounded several others, including field commanders, following a series of drone strikes in the southwestern province of Taiz. According to a military source who spoke to the state-run Saba TV, the army utilized drones to target Houthi gatherings and vehicles along the Maqbanah front in the western part of the province.
The government operations specifically targeted a Houthi crew located in Jabal al-Zuhaib, as well as a secondary position situated in the al-Zulool area of al-Urf in Maqbanah. The Yemeni armed forces media centre has released video documentation showing the artillery and drone operations as they struck Houthi vehicles on the western front.
The conflict has also intensified in the western province of Marib. Local authorities reported that the city, which currently provides shelter to more than 2.2 million displaced people, was struck by four ballistic missiles and four drones. In response to the Houthi group targeting residential districts with ballistic missiles, the Yemeni army deployed artillery and drones to pound Houthi sites and vehicles in the area.
In a separate incident in Saada province, Fayad al-Naaman, an assistant undersecretary at Yemen's Information Ministry, confirmed on X that officer Hisham Mujahid al-Subeihi of the 6th Emergency Brigade was killed by Houthi shelling in the Maran axis.
While Yemen had experienced a relative lull in fighting since April 2022, hostilities have resumed across several provinces in recent weeks, including Taiz, Marib, Al-Jawf, and Al-Dhalea. The country continues to grapple with a severe humanitarian and economic crisis stemming from a war that began nearly 12 years ago. The Houthis, who have maintained control over the capital, Sanaa, and other provinces since September 2014, also announced a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia in July.
