The 2026 college football season has officially entered a period of chaos, resulting in a significant shift at the top of the US LBM Coaches Poll. For the first time this season, Georgia has claimed the No. 1 ranking. The Bulldogs secured the top position after outlasting Alabama in Tuscaloosa, receiving 60 of the 74 first-place votes. Despite the loss, Alabama maintained its position at No. 7.

Notre Dame, which secured an easy win against Stanford, moved up to the No. 2 spot and earned three first-place votes. Miami (Fla.) climbed to No. 3 with one first-place nod. Indiana advanced to No. 4 after surviving a close contest against the previously unbeaten Nebraska. The Hoosiers received nine of the remaining 10 first-place votes, with the final vote going to No. 5 Ohio State.

Texas, which previously held the top spot, fell to No. 6 following a loss to Red River rival Oklahoma. Big 12 favorites Brigham Young and Texas Tech remained steady at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, while Mississippi returned to the top 10, ranking ahead of No. 11 Utah.

Movement was significant throughout the rest of the poll. UCLA achieved the week's largest jump, vaulting 10 places to No. 12 after defeating Oregon on the road. Kentucky climbed eight positions to No. 17 following an overtime victory against the team previously ranked No. 10, LSU. Oklahoma State entered the rankings at No. 20, while Wake Forest made its season debut at No. 23 and Boise State joined the poll at No. 24. Florida, Duke, and Pittsburgh dropped out of the top 25.
