Tensions in the occupied West Bank have intensified following a series of Israeli military raids and the issuance of new demolition orders. During an operation in the Qalandiya refugee camp, located north of occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli forces wounded a Palestinian man. According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society, medical personnel were blocked by troops and prevented from reaching the injured individual to provide assistance.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the military utilized live ammunition and tear gas during the incursion. The use of tear gas resulted in a fire that broke out among dense trees at the nearby Qalandiya Technical Training Institute. Concurrently, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa stated that Israeli forces conducted a separate raid in the vicinity of the Al-Jalazone refugee camp, north of Al-Bireh, where they also deployed tear gas.
In the town of Beit Dajan, east of Nablus, Israeli authorities issued formal demolition notices targeting 10 Palestinian homes and structures. Tawfiq al-Hajj Muhammad, the Deputy Council Head for Beit Dajan, noted that the orders affect residential properties and agricultural facilities, including a poultry facility situated in the town’s central and eastern districts. Furthermore, in the town of Ajja, south of Jenin, troops deployed using Eitan armoured personnel carriers supported by infantry troops. Soldiers occupied the rooftops of several homes, though no injuries or arrests were recorded during this specific operation.
The Israeli military did not immediately provide a comment regarding these raids or the demolition notices. These developments occur in the wake of a violent confrontation on Friday in the town of Tell near Nablus, which resulted in the deaths of four Palestinians and two Israelis. Following that incident, Nablus and its surrounding areas were placed under siege, with Israeli forces initiating mass arrests and announcing preparations for a large-scale military operation across the occupied West Bank. According to official Palestinian figures, the death toll in the occupied West Bank since October 2023 has reached at least 1,182, with thousands injured and approximately 24,000 people detained.
