The Islamic Center of San Diego, the largest mosque in the city, was placed on lockdown on Tuesday as a precautionary measure following a security threat. The San Diego Police Department confirmed the lockdown on X, stating they are maintaining a presence at the site to ensure public safety.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area near the center. As part of the ongoing investigation, the police department issued a public safety alert seeking a 2015 gray Toyota 4Runner with the New York license plate KGN3027. Officials explicitly warned that if the vehicle is located, the public should not approach it and should instead call 911 immediately.

Reports from local broadcaster ABC 10News indicate that the lockdown was initiated after senior leadership at the center secured the building and alerted parents of children attending the center's school. The facility was previously targeted in a shooting incident in May that resulted in the deaths of three people, with the two attackers dying by suicide shortly after the event.
