Former US President Donald Trump utilized a campaign rally in eastern Michigan on Sunday to launch a verbal attack against Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. During the event, Trump formally endorsed El-Sayed's Republican opponent, Mike Rogers, as the state prepares for the critical November midterm elections.

The current race between El-Sayed and Rogers is seen as a pivotal battleground for determining which party will control the Senate, with the seat currently held by retiring Democratic Senator Gary Peters. Addressing the crowd, Trump leveled sharp criticism at El-Sayed, claiming the candidate would require a metal detector to enter the Senate chamber. He further accused El-Sayed of advocating for the abolition of police departments and federal border enforcement agencies.

Trump urged his supporters to participate in the upcoming election on November 3, warning that voter turnout often declines when his name is not on the ballot. "Please show up and vote, because essentially we are all on the ballot," he stated during his speech. The rally took place one day after former President Barack Obama had also campaigned for Democratic candidates within the state.
