The Yemeni government has formally pledged to restore national institutions and re-establish state sovereignty across the country. This commitment comes as military units successfully recaptured strategic high-ground positions from Houthi forces in the southwestern Taiz province, a development occurring amidst a backdrop of intense air strikes.
Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi addressed the situation during high-level consultations with Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani and senior military commanders. Al-Alimi maintained that shifting front lines would not derail the government's broader national objectives. He asserted that the course of major national battles is not dictated by temporary fluctuations on a single front. Emphasizing a strategic approach, Al-Alimi stated that the state’s strength rests on the integration of political, economic, and military resources to regain the initiative regardless of changing battlefield conditions.
Tactical progress was reported on the ground in southwestern Taiz, where state-run Saba news agency confirmed that government troops secured high-ground positions overlooking the Jardad area in the Al-Shamayatayn district. This movement followed attempts by Houthi forces to infiltrate the region. Army units subsequently pushed toward the active front line at Ghayl Bani Omar, seizing military equipment and inflicting casualties on Houthi ranks.
The ground offensive was supported by a series of air strikes targeting Houthi logistical routes and assemblies in the Al-Waziiyah, Hayfan, and Dhubab districts. A separate operation in the Al-Afirah area of Jabal Habashi district destroyed multiple vehicles and triggered the detonation of a medium-calibre ammunition depot, resulting in the death of at least 10 fighters. These developments occur as the broader conflict remains fluid, with recent reports indicating Houthi claims over various coastal districts in Al-Hudaydah and Taiz, as well as strategic Red Sea islands such as Perim Island in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Meanwhile, the government continues to report advances in the northern Al-Jawf province toward Al-Hazm, while simultaneously repelling offensives in energy-rich Marib and conducting operations in Al-Dhalea, Lahj, and Mokha.
